Title: Inverse Limits of Covering Spaces

Abstract: Traditionally, covering spaces have been a central
tool for understanding fundamental groups of spaces. However, for
complicated spaces many subgroups of the fundamental group do not
correspond to covering spaces. Here we will consider inverse limits of
covering spaces, which we call pro-coverings, of both CW-complexes and
more general spaces. Pro-coverings give an additional tool to study the
fundamental group of complicated spaces. We will show that
pro-coverings are often path-connected and can be constructed as a
quotient of the path space. We will use a specific pro-covering to
construct a splitting of the first homology of Peano continua.
