      FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

DATE:               Friday, November 5, 2004

LOCATION:     Hempfield High School, Room 213 (directions attached)

"Quantum Groups and Dixmier Algebras, part 2"

ABSTRACT:     This is a continuation of last month's talk.  Following a review

of the definitions of quantum groups and Dixmier algebras, I'll

describe one method of constructing classical Dixmier algebras.

Next we'll quantize a Dixmier algebra by mimicking the construction

of a classical Dixmier algebra, translated to the quantum setting.

We'll conclude with a discussion of the obstacles that arise when

doing this.
