               "Stone-Cech Compactifications of G-Bundles"

ABSTRACT:  If B is a completely regular space and F is a finite set, the

Stone-Cech compactification of F x B is just F x \beta(B).  Now replace

the product F x B by a bundle p : E --> B (a surjective local homeomorph-

ism) with finite fibre F.  While the compactified bundle still has finite fibres

of size no larger than |F|, it may contain degenerate fibres of size strictly less

than |F|.  In the case of a G-bundle, G a finite group, this occurs precisely

when the bundle has infinite sectional category.  (This is joint work with

David Feldman).
